If you plan to drive to Cambridge, we recommend parking in the Eliot Street Garage – a short five minute walk from CGIS South.  Walking directions and a map from the Eliot Street Garage to CGIS South are at the bottom of this page.

Driving by car to the Eliot Street Garage

Route 128 or the Massachusetts Turnpike:

1. Take Route 128 to the Mass. Pike East.
2. Take Mass. Pike East to Cambridge/Brighton Exit #18 (a left hand exit).
3. After toll booth, bear right (toward Cambridge).
4. At the second traffic light, turn left (just before crossing the river) and proceed straight through one traffic light to Storrow Drive (heading west, out of the city).
5. Take the next right at the exit marked "Harvard Square" and follow it across the Charles River.
6. Go straight through the traffic light at end of bridge (crossing Memorial Drive) and you will now be on John F. Kennedy Street.
7. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Eliot Street.  It is very difficult to find metered parking in Harvard Square. If you are unable to find street parking, we suggest using public parking at the Eliot Street Garage, which is on the right just after you turn onto Eliot Street.

Routes 95, 1 or 93 (North):

1. Follow Route 95 South to the Peabody (Mass.) area and switch to Route 1 South. Route 1 continues for several miles, crosses the Tobin Bridge and then merges with Route 93 South. Immediately after this merge, take the right hand exit to Storrow Drive (Exit 26) and follow signs for Storrow Drive West.
2. Stay on Storrow Drive for roughly 4 miles. You will pass the "Massachusetts Avenue/Cambridge" exit and then the Guest Quarters Hotel. Continue on Storrow Drive.
3. Directly after the Guest Quarters you will see a right hand exit marked "Harvard Square." Take the exit and follow it to the right, across the river. Go straight through the traffic light at end of bridge (crossing Memorial Drive) and you will now be on John F. Kennedy Street.
4. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Eliot Street.  It is very difficult to find metered parking in Harvard Square. If you are unable to find street parking, we suggest using public parking at the Eliot Street Garage, which is on the right just after you turn onto Eliot Street.

Route 2

1. Follow Route 2 East into Cambridge and stay on it as it changes from a major highway to a four-lane thoroughfare. It will become the Alewife Brook Parkway, then the Fresh Pond Parkway, and eventually Memorial Drive, but will still be marked as Route 2 East.
2. Turn left on Memorial Drive (at the Charles River) and make an immediate left on John F. Kennedy Street at the sign marked "Harvard Square." 
3. At the next traffic light, turn left onto Eliot Street.  It is very difficult to find metered parking in Harvard Square. If you are unable to find street parking, we suggest using public parking at the Eliot Street Garage, which is on the right just after you turn onto Eliot Street.

Take the MBTA Red Line to the Harvard Square Station.

Walking from Harvard Square Station to CGIS South

Coming from the T, walk down Massachusetts Avenue, (in the direction against the traffic). It may be in your best interest to cross the street by the T, using the crosswalk in front of the Au Bon Pain. Turn left on Quincy Street, which is a one way street. Again you'll be walking against the traffic. Keep going straight. Turn right on Cambridge Street. The CGIS South building will be about one block down on your right. The conference will be held in Tsai Auditorium, immediately downstairs when you enter the building. Please refer to the map below.
